A Chrome and Edge update has caused navigation issues on the web

Following the recent updates to the Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome browsers web navigation has been affected with SuperNova and Dolphin ScreenReader

Recent updates to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge may cause navigation issues when using SuperNova and Dolphin ScreenReader.

Affected versions:

  • Chrome: Version 135.0.7049.95 and later

  • Edge: Version 136.0.3240.8 and later

Known issues include:

  • The Dolphin Cursor no longer navigates text line by line; instead, it selects and reads entire paragraphs.

  • The F3 search function does not work as expected.

  • Google Docs with braille support mode enabled results in blank line being read for all text.

There may be additional issues not yet identified. If you experience new navigation problems, we recommend testing the same pages in Mozilla Firefox, which is not currently affected by these updates.

Issue Status & Recommended Solutions

If you are experiencing navigation issues with SuperNova or Dolphin ScreenReader due to recent Chrome or Edge updates, please try one of the following solutions:

Option 1: Update the dol_ia2.dll File (Only for SuperNova and Dolphin ScreenReader version 24.01)

  • Download the latest dol_ia2.dll file.
  • Extract the file from the downloaded dol_ia2.zip.
  • Make sure SuperNova or Dolphin ScreenReader is closed before proceeding.
  • Copy the extracted dol_ia2.dll into your Dolphin product directory (typically located at:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Dolphin\<Product Edition>2401)
Replace <Product Edition> with the name of your installed Dolphin software edition.
  • When prompted, confirm that you want to overwrite the existing file.
  • Relaunch your Dolphin software and test navigation.

Option 2: Use an Alternative Browser

If you're experiencing significant issues, consider using Mozilla Firefox as a temporary workaround. Firefox is not currently affected by these browser updates.
