GuideConnect Email Setup Fails with Microsoft Authentication Error

 Overview

We are aware of an issue affecting Microsoft email account authentication within GuideConnect.

When attempting to add a Microsoft email account or rerun the email setup wizard, users may receive an authentication error that prevents the account from being configured successfully.

This issue has been identified as a high-priority incident and is currently being investigated by the Dolphin Development Team.

Symptoms

Users may experience one or more of the following:

• Unable to add a Microsoft email account in GuideConnect.
• Unable to reauthenticate an existing Microsoft email account.
• The email setup wizard completes successfully but displays an error when finalising the setup.
• Users are repeatedly prompted to rerun the email setup wizard.

The following error message may be displayed:

"Email set-up failed [Authentication error]. Please check you have entered your email settings correctly and try again."

Affected Accounts

The issue currently appears to affect email accounts that use Microsoft authentication, including:

• Microsoft 365 accounts
• Outlook.com accounts
• Exchange Online accounts
• Other email services that authenticate through Microsoft

During testing, Gmail accounts were able to authenticate successfully and were not affected by this issue.

Cause

The exact cause of the issue is currently under investigation.

Initial findings indicate that the problem is related to Microsoft authentication within GuideConnect rather than incorrect account settings entered by the user.

Workaround

While the issue is being investigated, users can continue to access their Microsoft email through a web browser.

Access Outlook on the Web using one of the following links:

• https://outlook.office.com
• https://outlook.com

This workaround allows users to send, receive, and manage their emails until a permanent fix is available.
