How do I disable AI features in GuideConnect for all users on my network?
Centrally managing access to AI features in GuideConnect
Disable AI in GuideConnect
If you need to disable AI in GuideConnect, you can do this in the Windows Registry.
Before you start
This change is intended for Windows users who are comfortable making system changes. If you are unsure, ask your IT administrator to help.
Registry path and value
For GuideConnect 2026.03 and later go to:`HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dolphin\GuideConnect`
For earlier versions of GuideConnect go to:`HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Dolphin\GuideConnect`
Create or update this value:
-
Name: DisableAI
-
Type: DWORD
-
Value: 1
When 'DisableAI' is set to '1', AI in GuideConnect is disabled.
What this setting does
This setting turns off AI features in GuideConnect. It can be useful if your organisation wants tighter control over Assistive Technology settings or needs to align with internal accessibility, privacy, or IT policies.
Export the setting for reuse
If you need to apply the same change on several machines, you can export the Registry setting to a `.reg` file after creating it on one device.
A typical export would include the GuideConnect Registry path and the 'DisableAI' value set to '1'. Your IT team can then keep this file as a standard configuration item for future deployments.
Before using an exported file widely, test it on a small number of machines to confirm it applies correctly in your environment.
Deploy the setting across all machines
For larger rollouts, it is usually best to deploy this Registry change through your existing device management tools.
Your IT administrator may choose to roll it out by using:
-
Group Policy for domain-joined Windows devices
-
Endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune or Microsoft Configuration Manager
-
Login scripts or other managed deployment processes already used in your organisation
This helps keep the setting consistent across devices and reduces the need for manual changes on each machine.
Important notes
-
You may need administrator rights to make this change.
-
It is a good idea to back up the Registry before editing it.
-
If GuideConnect is open, close and reopen it after making the change.
-
If the change does not take effect straight away, restart the computer.
-
If you are deploying to multiple machines, confirm that GuideConnect is installed in the same configuration across those devices.
To enable AI again
If you want to turn AI back on, change the 'DisableAI' value to '0' or remove the value from the Registry.
If you deployed the setting centrally, remember to update or remove the same deployment rule so the change is not reapplied automatically.
