Switching from Guidemail to Alternative Email Providers

Guidemail service is closing soon. To maintain email access and communication, users should switch to a reputable, free email provider and update their details accordingly.

Recommended Alternative Providers

We recommend switching to a long-established, free email service such as:
  • Google Gmail (Requires GuideConnect 1.27 or later)
  • Microsoft Outlook (Requires GuideConnect 1.28 or later)
Both providers offer reliable, secure services with generous storage capacity, ensuring your content remains safe and accessible.

  • Gmail: https://gmail.com
  • Outlook: https://signup.live.com

Adding Your New Email to GuideConnect

  1. From the main menu, choose 'Settings'.
  2. In Settings choose 'Emails'.
  3. In Emails choose 'Account manager'.
  4. Open the Actions menu (F2) and Choose 'Add'.
  5. Enter your email address, then press ENTER or OK.
  6. Enter your name, then press ENTER or OK.
  7. Enter your username and select OK.
    Your username is usually the same as your email address unless your provider says otherwise.
  8. Enter your password, then press ENTER or OK.
  9. GuideConnect will try to connect to your email provider. Select OK.
  10. If prompted to authorise your email on a web page, Select OK.
  11. On the authorisation page:
    - Enter your password again.
    - If the cursor isn’t in the password box, use the arrow keys until you hear “Edit area: Select to enter text”, then press ENTER and type your password.
  12. Press ENTER to confirm.

Update Other Services

If you used your Guidemail address for other services (e.g. shopping sites, household services), log in to those accounts and update your email address in the account settings to ensure that you do not miss any communications from those services.

Share Your New Email Address

Notify your contacts of your new email address and confirm communication works before Guidemail closes to avoid losing touch.

Additional Notes

Ensure all updates are completed before the Guidemail service ends to prevent disruption, we will communicate the exact date providing lots of time to complete these steps
