This issue is caused by the autofill feature in Chrome. When an edit field, such as a field requesting your surname, the edit box is autocompleted and includes a dropdown list for you to choose alternative entries you have used in the past.
If you are experiencing this problem with Chrome, you can turn off the autofill feature by doing the following:
- Run Google Chrome.
- Go to the Address bar and type “chrome://settings/addresses” without the quotes and press ENTER. The required “Addresses and more” settings page will open. Note, the use of colon and slashes in the text, which may not be spoken if you are using a low punctuation level reading this message.
- Locate the “Save and fill addresses” button on the page and, if the button is in a pressed state, press the SPACEBAR to unselect it. Note that you may have to move the focus off the button and back again to confirm the change in the state. You are listening out for the phrase “pressed button”. If it is unpressed, speech will simply say “button” for the control.
If you are also experiencing this issue when trying to make or receive payments as well then you will need to go to the Address bar and type “chrome://settings/payments” without the quotes and press Enter. Here you can follow the steps above but you are looking for “Save and fill payment methods” instead.
