There are various Remote Desktop clients available for accessing remote devices using the RDP protocol. This article outlines their compatibility with SuperNova.
For optimal speech and braille support when using SuperNova Enterprise in a Microsoft Remote Desktop environment, the SAM Remote add-in must be supported by the Remote Desktop client.
The SAM Remote add-in enables SuperNova on the remote environment to transmit essential information to the local device, ensuring that speech and braille output is produced locally. This results in improved performance and responsiveness.
Without the SAM Remote add-in, speech output can still be received from the remote device, but it will require more network bandwidth to stream audio, leading to reduced quality and responsiveness.
Supported Remote Desktop Clients
Microsoft only supports third-party add-ins in the Windows Remote Desktop application (mstsc.exe). Therefore, this is the only recommended client for use with SuperNova when requiring optimized speech and braille support.
Other clients, such as the web client or the Windows Store application, support SuperNova’s visual features and basic speech output. However, they do not support SAM Remote, meaning speech will not be optimized.
