How do I fix screen artifacts tracing issues in SuperNova 24.05

After installing SuperNova 24.05, some SuperNova users may encounter screen artifacts, redrawing problems, or “tracing” effects when using the magnifier. This can make navigating menus difficult. The issue can be resolved by updating to the latest version of SuperNova.

Issue Overview

On November 11, 2025, we encountered issues with Windows graphics updates released this month. Following this update, users of SuperNova software have reported:

  • Visual artifacts appearing on the screen

  • Redrawing issues where the display seems to “trace” previous frames

  • Difficulty navigating menus with the magnifier enabled

This behavior was identified shortly after the update’s release and has been confirmed as a compatibility issue between the new Windows graphics update and SuperNova’s magnification system.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue please update to SuperNova version 24.06. We have introduced a permanent hot-fix to this issue in 24.06 that has returned the magnification to its standard behavior.

Users are encouraged to enable automatic updates in SuperNova to receive the fix as soon as it becomes available.

Alternative Workarounds
Alternative workarounds for this issue are switching to the alternative magnification engine in SuperNova or by importing an updated magnification engine dll.

Steps to enable the alternative magnification system:

  1. Press Alt + G to open the General menu in SuperNova.

  2. Navigate to Advanced Options.

  3. Select Magnification Engine Settings.

  4. Check the box Use alternative magnification system.

  5. Restart SuperNova to apply the changes.

Steps to import the updated dolmagengine.dll:

  1. Download the updated Dolphin Magnification dll using the following link:
    https://exdownloads.yourdolphin.com/updatesandpatches/50209/dolmagengine.dll

  2. Copy the and replace the existing dolmagengine.dll file found in the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dolphin\SnovaSuite2405

  3. Restart your computer to apply the changes. 

These workaround restores stable magnification and eliminates the tracing artifacts.
