Windows Smart App Control causing SuperNova Installation Error Messages
Some users previously reported installation error messages or failures when attempting to install SuperNova updates after receiving Windows Security Update KB5074105. This behaviour was linked to the Windows feature Smart App Control, which began rolling out through this update.
This issue has now been fully resolved in SuperNova version 25. Users running SuperNova 25 or later should no longer experience installation problems related to Smart App Control.
For users on earlier versions of SuperNova
If you are running a version prior to SuperNova 25, Smart App Control may still interfere with installation or updates. In these cases, the following workaround can be used.
Workaround: Disable Smart App Control (for versions before SuperNova 25)
Steps to Disable Smart App Control:
-
Go to Settings > Windows Security > App and Browser Control.
-
Review the Smart App Control mode:
-
On — Smart App Control is running in enforcement mode.
-
Evaluation — Smart App Control is running in evaluation mode.
-
Off — Smart App Control is not running on this device.
-
-
Set Smart App Control to Off.
-
Retry the SuperNova update installation.
