Windows Smart App Control causing SuperNova Installation Error Messages
Some users have reported installation error messages or failures when attempting to install SuperNova updates after receiving Windows Security Update KB5074105. This behaviour has been linked to the Windows feature Smart App Control, which is being rolled out through this update.
Following the KB5074105 Windows Security update, Smart App Control is being rolled out to all Windows devices. Some users have reported experiencing issues installing SuperNova / SuperNova updates while Smart App Control is enabled. This is currently being addressed and will be resolved in a SuperNova update
Workaround: Disable Smart App Control
Steps to Disable Smart App Control:
- Go to Settings > Windows Security > App and Browser Control.
- Review the Smart App Control mode:
- On — Smart App Control is running in enforcement mode.
- Evaluation — Smart App Control is running in evaluation mode.
- Off — Smart App Control is not running on this device.
- Set Smart App Control to Off.
- Retry the SuperNova update installation.
