SuperNova Magnifier Tracking Issues in Microsoft Teams Chat
Understanding cursor‑highlight misalignment and tracking problems for SuperNova Magnifier and Magnifier & Speech users
Overview
Some users of SuperNova Magnifier and SuperNova Magnifier & Speech may experience issues when using Microsoft Teams chat, specifically with the cursor highlighting and text‑tracking features. This behaviour appears when typing messages in Teams and is limited to certain user profile configurations.
Symptoms
Users may notice the following:
-
The cursor highlight appears in the wrong location, not matching the actual text cursor position.
-
Tracking does not follow the text once typing reaches the end of a line.
-
The issue occurs only in Microsoft Teams chat.
-
The problem affects SuperNova Magnifier and Magnifier & Speech users on specific profiles.
Cause
This is a known compatibility issue between SuperNova’s tracking system and the Microsoft Teams chat input field. It is not caused by user settings or hardware and is currently under investigation.
Workarounds
For SuperNova Magnifier Users
At this time, there are no available workarounds for users running the Magnifier‑only profile. A fix is actively being developed and will be included in a future SuperNova update.
For Magnifier & Speech Users
A temporary workaround is available:
Switch to the “Magnifier & Speech with Keyboard” profile:
-
Press ALT + F to open the File menu.
-
Select Profile.
-
Choose Magnifier & Speech with Keyboard from the list.
This profile avoids the tracking issue and restores correct cursor highlighting and movement within Teams chat.
Status
The issue has been logged with development, and a permanent fix will be delivered in an upcoming release. Updates will be provided in future release notes.
