Thread Error During Backup and Restore (OT50314)
Unexpected thread failure during backup/restore operations despite valid storage and permissions
Some users may encounter a thread error when performing backup or restore operations, even when both internal and external drives have sufficient available storage and correct read/write permissions. This issue has been confirmed to occur under normal operating conditions and does not appear to be related to user configuration or system resource limitations.
The problem was first identified in version 2025.07 and has since been successfully replicated in our internal test environments, confirming it as a reproducible defect.
Symptoms
Users experiencing this issue may observe:
-
Backup or restore processes failing unexpectedly
-
Error messages referencing a thread error
-
Failures occurring regardless of:
-
Available disk space
-
Drive type (internal or external)
-
Correct read/write permissions
-
-
Inconsistent or incomplete backup/restore results
Current status
The underlying cause has not yet been fully identified. Early investigation indicates that the issue is not tied to storage capacity, file system permissions, or hardware configuration. The behavior appears to originate from an internal threading process during backup/restore operations.
Our development team are actively investigating this issue to determine the root cause. At this time no workarounds have been identified. Users are advised to monitor this article for updates.
