I am unable to add my Gmail account in GuideConnect

Google have made a change to the way they handle the OAuth email security which has inadvertently broken the support for new account setup in GuideConnect.

Google made a change to their security on October 3rd 2022 which has inadvertently broken the support for new Gmail account setup in GuideConnect.  Accounts that are already configured in GuideConnect will continue to function normally.

This issue has been resolved in GuideConnect 1.23 and later.

If you are running an older version of GuideConnect and you need to configure a Gmail account we recommend that you update your copy of GuideConnect.

The change implemented by Google was to deprecate the OAuth out-of-band (OOB) flow which was used in GuideConnect.  Technical details on the changes implemented by Google can be found here: https://developers.google.com/identity/protocols/oauth2/resources/oob-migration

If you experience issues adding a Gmail account to GuideConnect 1.23 or 1.24 this may be due to a port conflict with iTunes, please remove iTunes from the computer and then try to add the account again.
