OneCore voices are not working with any application

If the OneCore voice encounters issues this will affect its functionality with SuperNova, GuideConnect and EasyReader

Before attempting the following, create a backup copy of your Windows Registry and a system restore point. Failure to do this may result in a non-recoverable system.


Windows updates have on occasion broken the OneCore voice functionality in Windows.

To resolve this issue you need to:

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech\Voices\Tokens
  3. Delete the entries for the broken OneCore voices.
  4. Navigate to:  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\SPEECH\Voices\Tokens
  5. Delete the entries for the broken OneCore voices.
  6. Restart the device.
  7. Now add the voices via Windows Start menu > Settings > Time & Language > Speech > Add voices.
