The SAM Remote driver is not working in a VMware Horizon remote environment

VMware Horizon by default is configured to block Multimedia Redirection which can affect the use of SAM Remote for speech and braille access.

To configure the individual machine to allow SAM Remote to function you can:

  • Open the VMware Horizon Administrator console.
  • Under the Inventory > Desktops select the affected machine.
  • Select the Policies menu item.
  • Ensure that the "Multimedia Redirection (MMR) is set to allow.

To configure the policy globally to allow SAM Remote to function across all machines you can:

  • Open the VMware Horizon Administrator console.
  • Choose "Settings" > "Global Policies".
  • Select "Edit Policies".
  • Ensure that the "Multimedia Redirection (MMR) is set to allow.
