SuperNova Magnifier & ScreenReader and Dolphin ScreenReader users may find compatibility issues with Libre office.
Users may find compatibility issues when using Libre Office. Below details the settings required to provide the best possibly accessibility with Libre Office and SuperNova/Dolphin ScreenReader
Set LibreOffice Accessibility Options
For best results, ensure the following options are turned on (or turned off) in LibreOffice:
First of all, enable the Support assistive technology tools” checkbox. To do this:
- Open LibreOffice
- Open the “Tools…” menu
- Choose “Options…”
- Choose “Accessibility “in the left-hand pane.
- Check the “Support assistive technology tools” checkbox.
- Choose "OK".
Also, enable the "Use text selection cursor in read only documents”. To do this:
- Open LibreOffice
- Open the “Tools…” menu
- Choose “Options…”
- Choose “Accessibility “in the left-hand pane.
- Check the “Use text selection cursor in read-only documents” checkbox.
- Choose "OK".
Finally, turn off Hardware Acceleration, Antialiasing and Skia for rendering. To do this:
- Open LibreOffice
- Open the “Tools…” menu
- Choose “Options…”
- Choose “View “in the left-hand pane.
- Turn off the following options:
- Use hardware acceleration
- Use Skia for rendering
- Use anti-aliasing
If you are still facing issues with navigating we recommend that users try LibreOffice version 6. Version 6 of LibreOffice can be downloaded from:
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/6.1.0.1/win/x86_64/LibreOffice_6.1.0.1_Win_x64.msi
Once LibreOffice 6 is installed ensure that the same settings above are applied. After applying these changes quit and re-start LibreOffice 6.
Known issues:
Some users may find that the Read From Here functionality may not behave as intended and jump from sentence to sentence. This is a known issue that has been reported to the Dolphin Development team.
